Acquiring a beautiful, youthful look goes beyond the surface. True improvement requires deeper issues to be addressed, specifically a loss of facial volume. Dr. Marguerite Germain uses these injectable treatments with skill and artistry to temporarily fill-in wrinkles and plump up facial features for a natural-looking, refreshed appearance.

VOLUMA® is an innovative, injectable volumizer that delivers a smoother more youthful appearance to your cheeks, cheekbones, and chin in as little as 15-30 minutes. It is a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler developed by the Juvéderm® brand, that has the ability to last up to TWO years compared to the 6-12 month window of current HA fillers like Restylane, Prevelle and basic Juvederm. VOLUMA® was also created to be smoother than other HA facial fillers, making it easier to inject during treatment.
VOLUMA® has been approved, and widely used, in Canada and Europe for several years now. The FDA is expected to approve this product for use in the US in the next couple of months, and we are thrilled to be one of the first (and few) to offer this treatment to our patients.
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Gel Fillers
Dr. Germain offers three varieties of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Gel Fillers. JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel, Restylane® and Perlane®. Patients appreciate the fact that these popular fillers are composed of a substance that occurs naturally in the human body (HA), and do not require allergy testing. These fillers also have a proven record of efficiency, each achieving results that may last 6 to 12 months, depending upon the area treated.
As you age, natural environmental factors (like sunlight) can reduce the amount of hyaluronic acid (HA) in your skin. This lack of HA causes your skin to lose structure and volume, creating those unwanted facial wrinkles and folds.

RADIESSE® Volumizing Filler http://www.radiesse.com
The best solution for erasing lines and folds is to replace lost structure with immediate volume. RADIESSE® Volumizing Filler works immediately providing patients with instant results. Once injected, RADIESSE® adds the volume and lift needed to diminish the signs of aging.
What makes RADIESSE® truly unique is the ability of the product to act as a scaffold under the skin, providing structure and stimulating your own natural collagen to grow. The production of natural collagen continues for several months, which extends beyond the initial effect of RADIESSE® Volumizing Filler.
With one treatment of RADIESSE® results often last more than 1 year. Dr. Germain is an extremely experienced injector with RADIESSE® and performs many treatments.
*Please Note: Dermal fillers can fill in wrinkles and add volume to thinning facial features; however, they cannot reduce the appearance of wrinkles caused by facial expressions. For those wrinkles (known as "dynamic wrinkles") treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic is a better choice.
Tips for Treatment
What should I expect during the procedure?
A topical anesthetic will be applied to the areas to be injected. There is also anesthetic in each syringe of filler. You may experience some redness, swelling and bruising after your treatment; because of this arrange major social events at least 2 weeks from treatment date. Patients normally report bruising lasting up to 2 weeks post injection. Many patients schedule a complimentary V-Beam laser treatment post procedure which will help the bruising to resolve more quickly. *Avoid self-tanner in case laser treatment is needed.
Tips for decreasing bruising:
1. One week prior, please discontinue multi-vitamins, Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Ibuprofen, and red wine. Before stopping any medication be sure to check with your doctor.
2. Take Arnica Montana
Arnica Montana is a homeopathic supplement that prominent cosmetic surgeons have used for years to help their patients' bruises diminish faster. We recommend patients start taking the product two days before their procedure and continue taking it for five days afterwards or longer if needed.
3. Ice the Area
Icing the treatment area after your procedure causes the blood vessels to constrict and can help minimize bruising to the area. Icing for 48 hours following a procedure will also help decrease the swelling.
4. Eat Pineapple
Eating fresh pineapple can help minimize bruising as well. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, "Fresh pineapple juice contains many nutrients, including the enzyme bromelain. Bromelain is a naturally occurring anti-inflammatory that can decrease swelling, point tenderness and pain. Pineapple juice may help reduce the recovery time from bruising. Just remember it must be fresh!
5. Camouflage with Makeup
Look for a concealer kit with several colors that will take you through the stages of a bruise. We carry post-procedure corrective kits designed specifically to conceal treatment bruising. When used correctly, they are extremely effective and no one will ever know you had anything done. We recommend Jane Iredale's Corrective Colors kit.
